Possible Solution: Blepharoplasty

Excess skin on the upper eyelids can not only affect your appearance but also impede vision, causing a daily struggle. The surgical removal of this excess skin—known as a Blepharoplasty—is designed to revitalize your eyes, bringing back the youthful allure and clarity to your vision.

Blepharoplasty involves carefully reshaping the eyelid by removing excess skin and tissue that causes a droopy or puffy appearance. It is a relatively brief procedure that holds the potential to dramatically enhance one’s facial appearance and improve the field of vision.

Blepharoplasty on the upper eyelids is often covered by insurance if certain criteria are met. However, upper blepharoplasty surgery can also be performed for purely cosmetic reasons, which would disqualify the procedure from insurance coverage.

Possible Solution: Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty

Excess skin or bags underneath the eyes commonly occurs in patients of all ages. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the lower eyelids by removing excess tissue (such as skin and fat). It is commonly sought after to address under eye bags, puffiness, wrinkles, and/or sagging skin in the lower eyelid area. A lower eyelid blepharoplasty can be performed as a stand alone procedure or in conjunction with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, forehead lift, or any other procedures that Dr. Wilkes offers depending on the patient’s aesthetic goals and anatomical considerations. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is always considered a cosmetic procedure by insurance companies and is, therefore, disqualified from insurance coverage.

Possible Solution: Forehead Lift

A forehead lift (or brow lift) is a cosmetic procedure aimed at rejuvenating the appearance of the forehead, brow, and upper eyelid area. It is typically sought by individuals who want to address drooping brows and/or forehead wrinkles. Dr. Wilkes commonly recommends this procedure in conjunction with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty to provide full rejuvenation of the upper eyelid area. A forehead lift procedure is always considered a cosmetic procedure by insurance companies and is, therefore, disqualified from insurance coverage.

Possible Solution: Embrace® Procedures

FaceTite

FaceTite is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure designed to tighten and contour the face and neck by using radiofrequency (RF) energy. It targets mild to moderate degrees of sagging skin, wrinkles, and excess fat in the lower face and neck area.  During this procedure a small probe is inserted under the skin through tiny incisions. This probe delivers controlled RF energy to the deeper layers of the skin, heating the tissues and stimulating collagen production. This helps to tighten and firm the skin, minimize skin laxity, and improve the appearance of wrinkles. It can also help to reduce small areas of fat in the treated areas.  Results from FaceTite are gradual and continue to improve over several months as the body produces the collagen and elastin fibers that were stimulated during the procedure.

Liposuction

Dr. Wilkes often recommends liposuction of the neck and jawline area concurrently with the FaceTite procedure. This further helps to eliminate any unwanted fat deposits and contour the jawline.

Elevate

Elevate is a minimally invasive procedure that aims to lift and contour the neck and jawline. It involves a specialized, absorbable thread to lift and support the skin and underlying tissues of the neck. Dr. Wilkes may recommend this for patients undergoing FaceTite, depending on the individual’s anatomy and aesthetic goals.

Morpheus8

Morpheus8 is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy to improve skin texture, tone, and firmness. It can minimize the appearance of wrinkles, acne scarring, and skin laxity. Dr. Wilkes commonly recommends Morpheus8 to be performed immediately following FaceTite procedures to further stimulate collagen production and intensify the results of the above procedures. Additional treatments may be recommended 4-6 weeks apart. These treatments do not require an additional trip to the operating room, and can be performed in our med spa, Pine & River Aesthetics.
